Bike to Work 2012



Commuter Services annually celebrates National Bike to Work Week, which typically falls during the 2nd week of May and highlights bicycling as a mode of commuting. Commuters who ride their bicycle to/from work during the week are encouraged to log their commute and be entered to win prizes!

**Due to inclement weather, we will be extending the Bike to Work Week contest period through Friday, May 25th**

5 Reasons to Try Bicycling to Work the Week of May 14th:
  1. Save $$ on your commute (save on gas + wear and tear on your vehicle)
  2. Reduce your carbon footprint
  3. Increase your physical fitness level
  4. Make your commute be your workout; Less time at the gym = more time with your family
  5. Log your commute on May 18 for the week and be entered to win a Bicycle Safety Pack valued at over $25.00!

Combine Bicycling and Transit

BARTA, CAT, Lebanon Transit, Red Rose Transit and rabbittransit have bike racks on their buses, and there usually are bike racks at Amtrak stations.

Special Offer: To celebrate Bike to Work Week and encourage clean commuting, Lebanon Transit/Commute King in Lebanon County, rabbittransit/rabbitEXPRESS in York and Adams County, and Red Rose Transit in Lancaster County are offering a FREE ride for any rider who chooses to bring their bike on the bus for any part of their trip! Bike and Ride and be eligible to win prizes!

Commuter Services is a program of the non-profit Susquehanna Regional Transportation Partnership, whose board includes the Harrisburg Regional Chamber; the Gettysburg Adams, Lebanon Valley, Greater Chambersburg, and York County Economic Alliance; Lancaster and Greater Reading Chambers of Commerce & Industry; Berks Area Regional Transportation Authority (BARTA), County of Lebanon Transit Authority (LT); Red Rose Transit Authority (RRTA, Lancaster); York Adams Transportation Authority (rabbittransit); Capital Area Transit (CAT, Cumberland-Dauphin-Harrisburg); Lancaster, Lebanon, Reading Area and York metropolitan planning organizations (MPOs); Harrisburg MPO (Cumberland, Dauphin and Perry counties) and Adams and Franklin counties Rural Planning Organizations (RPOs). One board seat is also set aside for a corporate executive. Funding is provided by the Federal Highway Administration and PennDOT in partnership with the participating MPOs and RPOs.
