Bike to Work 2011 Results



Commuter Services of Pennsylvania has announced its 2011 Bike to Work Week winners. A total of 70 participants logged 4,024.64 miles while commuting by bicycle during the two-week event.

Most Miles Logged

Kevin Kreider


Kevin Kreider of Lancaster County was the bicycling commuter logging the most miles of all competitors during the recent challenge. Kreider logged 247.4 miles bicycling to his job at Tyson Foods in Lancaster. Kreider won a commuter pack that included a $10 gift card, a water bottle, a bike lock, a tote bag and a T-shirt.

Employer with the Most Participants

Gettysburg College


Gettysburg College, Adams County, won the challenge as the employer with the most participants.

Other winners were randomly selected by county of residence and won commuter packs that included a water bottle, a bike lock, a tote bag and a T-shirt. They were:

Adams County

Eric Remy of Gettysburg, Adams County, who logged 24 miles bicycling to his job at Gettysburg College.

Berks County

Jeremy Guss of Berks County, who logged 224 miles bicycling to his job at Fleetwood Fixtures in Berks County.


Cumberland County

Nathan Thomas of Shippensburg, who logged 30 miles bicycling to his job at Shippensburg University in Cumberland County.

Dauphin County

Cathy Becker of Harrisburg, who logged 50 miles bicycling to her job at Pennsylvania Department of Health in Dauphin County.

Franklin County

Bud Shearer of Waynesboro, who logged 13 miles bicycling to his job at Navitor in Franklin County.


Lancaster County



Nathan Hoover of Lancaster County, who logged 17.6 miles bicycling to his job at the Mennonite Disaster Service in Lancaster.


Lebanon County

John Saldibar of Newmanstown, who logged 112 miles bicycling to his job at Bayer Healthcare in Lebanon County.




York County

Debra Aikey of York County, who logged 21 miles bicycling to her job at Wilmac Corp in York.


Commuter Services is a program of the non-profit Susquehanna Regional Transportation Partnership, whose board includes the Harrisburg Regional Chamber; the Gettysburg Adams, Lebanon Valley, Greater Chambersburg, and York County Chambers of Commerce; Lancaster and Greater Reading Chambers of Commerce & Industry; Adams County Transit Authority (ACTA); Berks Area Regional Transportation Authority (BARTA), County of Lebanon Transit Authority (LT); Red Rose Transit Authority (RRTA, Lancaster); York County Transportation Authority (rabbittransit); Capital Area Transit (CAT, Cumberland-Dauphin-Harrisburg); Lancaster, Lebanon, Reading Area and York metropolitan planning organizations (MPOs); Harrisburg MPO (Cumberland, Dauphin and Perry counties) and Adams and Franklin counties Rural Planning Organizations (RPOs). One board seat is also set aside for a corporate executive. Funding is provided by the Federal Highway Administration and PennDOT in partnership with the participating MPOs and RPOs.
